Description
Olives trees are fantastic evergreen trees that will add a Mediterranean touch to the garden. They are suited to warm and sunny areas of the garden and can be planted in the ground or container and may produce fruit in mild regions and warm summers in the UK.
These standard olive trees feature a strong trunk with a neat and head. Also known as 'Lollipop Olives', Standards are great for adding height and structure to your garden beds and borders.
About these plants...
We try our best to provide you with images that closest resemble the plant you will receive. Of course these are a natural grown product and therefore will be variation between plants but this is an inherent part of the charm of plants and gardening!
How to care for your Olive
- Watering - Olive trees are ideal for planting in pots and once established they are drought tolerant and do not require a lot of watering. Little and often will do the trick!
- Positioning - If you have a protected city garden or live in a mild area, olives can be grown outdoors as long as you give them a sunny position and plant them in well-drained soil - for example, against a warm wall would be ideal. Full sun positioning prefered
- What Soil do I Use? - If planting in a pot give these olive trees in a nutrient rich compost and topsoil mix. A mix of peat based compost and top soil to a ratio of 3:1 will help these olives thrive and retain moisture in their pots.
- Feeding - You can feed Olive trees with a liquid Tomato Feed. As the plant matures, 4 years+ top up pots or borders as required with a compost featuring John Innes NO.3. This is a mature plant compost that will help give your Olive the necessary nutrients needed as it develops.
- Olives naturally shed their older leaves in spring (April in the UK) as new growth begins.
