Weed Suppression and Low Maintenance Gardening
Decorative bark helps to suppress weed growth so you spend less time weeding and more time enjoying your garden.
Softening Landscapes
Decorative bark creates an inviting appearance in your garden by softening the appearance of paths, patios and other hard landscaping.
Protecting Plants
Decorative bark shields plant roots against temperature extremes, insulating during frosty spells and protecting roots against the sun during hotter weather.
For Paths and Seating Areas
Bark makes an ideal low maintenance surface for high-traffic areas at a more affordable price than paving stones.
Instructions For Use
- Prepare the area by removing any weeds, stones and debris.
- Lay a weed suppressive membrane like Weed Stop Ultimate
- Spread decorative bark to a depth of 25mm (1"). 50mm (2") is required for effective weed suppression. Raking over will help give a more even appearance.
- Leave a gap of approximately 25mm-50mm (1"-2") between the bark and base of the plants.
- Freshen the appearance of the decorative bark by periodic raking and topping up wit new bark if desired.
- Plants will benefit from fertilisation during spring, as in some cases the bark will use nitrogen from the soil and it slowly degrades.
- Under certain weather conditions fungal growth may appear on chipped bark inside the bag or after laying. This growth is harmless to plants and will disappear as the chipped bark ages, or after raking.
