Description

Acers are a stunning ornamental plant that are deciduous in nature. Their ability to display a variety of colours throughout the year makes them popular amongst gardeners. Acers can be grown in pots or in the ground and thrive best in peat rich soils. Due to their leaves delicate nature, they must be protected from windy areas of the garden and be kept out of direct, heat-of-the-day sun light as they can be subject to windburn. 

Beni-maiko is a compact yet bushy shrub acer growing to approximately 1.5m tall. The leaves emerge a bright red in spring which then turn a pinkish colour to a green-red in the summer. In autumn the leaves turn to yellow then orange and a deeper red before falling for the winter.

Positioning and Care:

Shelter from harsh winds and keep out of heat-of-the-day sun. Acers thrive best in peat rich soil and can be positioned in more shady parts of the garden.

Max Height: 1.5m - Max Spread: 1.5m

Growing Habit: 

Bushy in nature. Stemmed plant will want to bush out on the head as much as possible but can be pruned.

Fully hardy down to around -20 degrees.
