Description
Acers are a stunning ornamental plant that are deciduous in nature. Their ability to display a variety of colours throughout the year makes them popular amongst gardeners. Acers can be grown in pots or in the ground and thrive best in peat rich soils. Due to their leaves delicate nature, they must be protected from windy areas of the garden and be kept out of direct, heat-of-the-day sun light as they can be subject to windburn.
Acer 'Garnet' is a small tree type acer which grows to about 3-4m tall. It has a narrow upright growing habit producing usually 7 lobed leaves which are a reddish colour in spring with a silver like sheen, which then matures to a deep brownish-red colour, turning bright red during autumn. Garnet acer also produces small purple flowers during spring which are followed by red winged fruits in the summer.
